Top Tips

• Plant generously in bold swathes for the ultimate spring display of flowers. Contrasts beautifully with snowdrops.
• Pre-soak tubers in water overnight before planting to help them get started, and they will start to grow much more quickly.

Care Guide

• Plant the pre-soaked tubers 5-8cm (2-3in) deep and 15cm apart in light, sandy soil in a sunny, protected site
• Corms can be started off in pots and transferred into the garden when all risk of frost is passed
• Site your anemones where they will receive full to half day sun
• After planting, water anemones well to settle the soil around the corms
• When blooming has finished for the season don’t cut off the foliage – the leaves are needed to store energy for the winter
• Water as needed during active growth periods and feed with a general-purpose fertiliser every 2 weeks while in active growth
• At the end of the summer the leaves will yellow and die back and the plant goes into dormancy – leaves can be removed at this point. Your anemones will rest for a few months before starting into growth again
• Leave them in the ground once they die back ? they?ll come back bigger and better each year, just cover with a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to protect against extreme winter weather
• Plant in herbaceous borders, in pots, or leave in the ground to naturalise
