Lofos Burgundy Wine

Lofospermum Wine Red, also known as creeping Gloxinia, is a stunning summer flower that will add eye-catching blooms to your hanging baskets. Producing beautiful trumpet-shaped blooms in an intense shade of burgundy that contrast effortlessly with the lush green foliage. Fast growing, this lofus is made for hanging baskets where it will trail over the edges and almost touch the floor by the end of the season. Delivered as 12 plug plants, ready to grow on before planting out.

Your Lophospermum are supplied as jumbo plugs – larger sized plug plants that are slightly more established and can be planted into pots or baskets straight away.

Care Guide

• Initially your Lofos plants should be potted into 7.5-9cm (3-3?in) pots using a good quality compost. If planting directly into a basket, allow 3-4 plants for a 12-14in basket, or 6 for a really dense effect.
• Grow on in a greenhouse, conservatory or indoors at a minimum temperature of 15C (60F), moving outside during late May or early June and only when the risk of frost has passed.
• In the early stages keep the plants on the dry side and provide good ventilation as the young plants can be susceptible to the fungal disease.
• Pinch out the growing tip to produce a bushy habit when the plants have reached a height of about 10cm (4in).
• To keep your plants growing vigorously keep the plants well-watered and apply a balanced liquid feed at 10 day intervals.
• Mature plants can be over-wintered in a greenhouse at a minimum temperature of 5C (41F).
